How to Book a Badminton Court in Singapore

1. ActiveSG — the cheapest option

ActiveSG runs the public sports halls and school halls islandwide. Book through the ActiveSG website or app: log in with Singpass, pick Badminton, choose a venue and timeslot. Each user can book up to 2 slots per day.

Peak-hour slots are allocated by ballot, not fastest fingers — place your ballot for the slots you want and wait for the outcome. Off-peak weekday slots are usually easy to get.

2. Community club (CC) courts

Many Community Clubs rent out their sports halls for badminton, typically S$3–18 per hour (averaging around S$7.50). Booking is usually through the CC's own counter or the PA website. Availability varies a lot by location — the popular evening slots go fast.

3. Private arenas

When public courts are full, private operators fill the gap at higher prices. The Singapore Badminton Association's KFF Badminton Arena (Guillemard Road) charges roughly S$15/hr non-peak and S$30/hr peak for standard courts, more for air-conditioned VIP courts. Courts at the OCBC Arena / Kallang run about S$5/hr non-peak and S$8/hr peak for citizens/PRs. Private courts cost roughly two to three times public rates — worth it for a guaranteed slot at 8 PM on a Wednesday.

4. Tips for organizers

Book early for peak hours — and use the ballot the moment it opens. Consider off-peak — a Sunday morning slot can cost half the Saturday evening one. Book 2 hours — one hour is barely a warm-up for a group of 8. Split it — S$14.80 for two peak hours ÷ 8 players = S$1.85 each for the court; the shuttles cost more than the court.
